How to find us
Please click on link and add in your postcode: Foxhole Cottage any problems with that link and map then please head for Aveton Gifford and take the following steps:
If the tide is out take the Tidal Road. This road starts at the roundabout in the village where the river, the boat/carpark and the Fisherman's Rest all meet.
Taking the turning leading towards the car park, continue on following the river and drive all the way along. It has many passing places but keep in a low gear since alot of walkers, riders and dog-owners use this road. There is some wiggle-room with the tide – 2.5 hours after high tide, and the road's accessible – keep this in mind throughout your stay and please see the clock in the kitchen which shows the tide times and is invaluable!
When you get to the end of the Tidal Road, Stakes Hill, the road becomes a steep uphill, winding up to the top, passing the Oyster Shack en route. Keep going until you pass a turning on your left. Ignore the left hand turn but slow down because a few yards after that is the right hand turn for Easton. Turn right down this steep, winding lane and once you've got past Glebe House and The Vineyard on your left, keep going down and Foxhole Cottage is the first house on your left. Since this hill is so steep, the parking bays are on two different levels. You need to park in the lower level.
From the same roundabout at Aveton Gifford, ignore the Tidal Road, and take the main road, A379 to Modbury and Plymouth. Take the second left to Ashford and follow this road through the hamlet. Soon after you start climbing a steep hill, you will see a three storey farmhouse on your left right on the roadside take the first left after this and stay on that lane until you go over a little stone bridge. Go up past the first house on the right with blue woodwork and we are the next house, park on first level parking Bay from this direction..
For those completely unfamiliar with this part of the world, Please take the main road to St Ann's Chapel (TQ7 4HQ). Once you get to that village, you will come to a crossroads, take the left hand turn for Oyster Shack turning (brown sign). Follow that lane until you come to the first left hand turn which says Easton. Turn left down this steep, winding lane and once you've got past Glebe House and The Vineyard on your left, keep going down and Foxhole Cottage is the first house on your left. Since this hill is so steep, the parking bays are on two different levels. You need to park in the lower level.
The road is very quiet during low tide but does get busier at high tide when the tidal road is not accessible. Please do be mindful of this and take the necessary care with children and pets.
